Proposed New Bridleway

Bucks County Council is proposing to re-designate the existing stretch of Public Footpath past the Mill as a bridleway and then Oxfordshire will do the same for the water meadows. At the moment the bridleway stops 69 metres from the river boundary with Oxfordshire. The re-designation will allow riders and cyclists to avoid the A418 and reclaim their inheritance. The route to the mill from both directions would originally have allowed horses and their carts to bring grain to the mill.

Now that public interest in the project has been demonstrated by a petition of over 1500 names, the council has put 2 routes out to consultation. The alternative route via Tythrop is longer and would involve more landowners and more difficult conflicts with livestock, which makes it a less likely solution.
