RIDING CLUBS

This page is for BHS Affiliated Riding Clubs either wholly or partly in Buckinghamshire. If you would like to add your Riding Club, please send a short article to bhsinbucks@btinternet.com, including how people can contact you to join, and your web address if you have one.

Great Missenden Riding Club

Great Missenden Riding Club is based at Deep Mill Farm in Great Missenden. We are very fortunate to be able to hold all our events and training sessions at this great venue.

We are a very friendly bunch and do our best to make new members and competitors very welcome (as well as look after our “regulars”). We run all our events to a high professional standard using BSJA course designers and judges, and listed dressage judges without being too officious about it all. So, whatever discipline you do, and whatever level you are at, you should have an enjoyable experience with us.

Club membership and competitions are only open to riders aged 17 and over with the exception of our Senior and Junior Show Jumping Competition on 4th June and our Showing Show on 25th June.

High Wycombe Riding Club

High Wycombe Riding Club (HWRC) is a medium size friendly club and we have both junior and senior members. Our membership is very diverse and includes non-riders, those who have returned to riding after a long break, all-round riders and those who compete regularly at competitions. We enter teams into all of the riding club area qualifiers and have had success both at area and national championship level.

As a club we try hard to offer something for everyone and have a packed, varied annual fixture list. Every year we hold an open show, a junior show, hunter trial, one day event, dressage show and various un-mounted clinics and lectures/ demonstrations. There are also social events and regular training clinics in all disciplines.

We welcome all new members of any age or ability to join us. We have a wealth of knowledge within our Committee so are always pleased to help on any problems if we can. Just ask us! Details of all our events, more information about the club and joining forms can be found on our website www.highwycomberidingclub.co.uk.

South Oxfordshire Riding Club

South Oxfordshire is a friendly Riding Club with members and events in the Oxfordshire/Buckinghamshire/Berkshire borders. We welcome riders of all levels, whether you enjoy hacking, competing or want to meet like minded people. We are affiliated to the British Horse Society and aim to enter teams for all National and Regional Riding Club competitions. We welcome both Senior and Junior (over 14 years) members.

Chalfont Heights Riding Club

www.Chalfontheightsridingclub.org.uk

Email: Chalfont_Heights@Hotmail.com

Chalfont Heights Riding Club was founded in the living room of Pat Turner’s home in November 1978 by a group who rode in the vicinity of Chalfont Heights & Chalfont St Peter, meeting at Winkers Farm and members’ houses for coffee evenings. The club affiliated to the British Horse Society in 1979.

Since then, CHRC has continued to flourish. The club holds two open shows a year, 3 dressage challenges, and this year a mini eventer trial. In addition regular training is provided for our members.
The club enters teams in all area competitions, and for the last 3 years having representation at the British Riding Club National Championships.

Based in the Chalfonts, we also have members from the surrounding areas including Rickmansworth, Harefield, Ruislip and Watford .

Despite our growth we retain our reputation as a friendly club where everyone is encouraged to have a go, led by a hardworking and dedicated committee and helpers, who give up many hours of their spare time to organise events which make it such a success. We also have fantastic backing from our excellent sponsors - without their financial support, our events would not be possible – please show your gratitude by supporting them. So what are you waiting for? Come and join us!

The Old Berkeley Hunt Riding Club

The OBH Riding Club was started in 1948 by members of the Old Berkeley Hunt who wanted to ride together in the summer. Colonel Phipps was a founding member and we still award the Phipps trophy, a very beautiful, mounted hunting horn, to the member accruing the most club points throughout the year.

The club membership is for seniors, starting at seventeen years old, and caters for a range of disciplines. We run open competitions, from a showing show through to a one day event, and a series of members shows. Training now includes both winter and summer training as well as a mini one day event over a “starters” course.  We try to encourage a social aspect to the club as well, with an annual quiz and sometimes a BBQ at the members’ events, while people wait for results.  Because we’re affiliated, we can also send teams to all sorts and levels of qualifiers, drawn from whoever is interested.
